TUTOR'S CVs:
JUAN CABRERRA (Tangoreo):
Juan came into tango in July 1997 when he was 20 years old encouraged by his father who used to listen to tango music all day. He always told Juan that being a good "porteño" as he was he should learn how to dance tango (porteño is the name for the people that were born in the city of Buenos Aires).
So he began to attend classes in the tango schools of the west area of the city of Buenos Aires. And 2 years later he started to dance with Adolfo Godoy and Leonardo Cuello, commencing then a long career as a dancer, teacher and choreographer that has taken him throughout Argentina, South America and Europe.
He has learned with Aurora Lubis, Jorge Firpo, Pablo Veron and Roberto Herrera, to name but a few.
In 2005 he received a grant from the Argentinean Government to study to become a qualified tango teacher.
In 2006 and 2008 he received the award "Para que Bailen los Muchachos" from the city of Buenos Aires.
He is recognized in the best Buenos Aires milongas - like Salon Canning, Club Grisel, Club sin Rumbo, Sunderland, Porteño y Bailarín - where he has been dancing since his career began.
Juan has also been a well known tango guide among tourists and tango students from all over the world.
In his origin country he combines his teaching and performances with volunteer workshops and shows in public hospitals, charities, churches or schools, moved by his desire of making people smile and helping them to express themselves through dance and movement.
He has been coming to UK once a year since 2007 to teach and to help to promote the authentic Argentine Tango with The Northern Tango Society. In 2010 he decided to establish in Sheffield.
At the moment he teaches tango, milonga lisa y traspie y valz in groups, workshops and private lessons, as well as body awareness.

22-23 may tango weekend
Welcome back Andres (Tanguito) Cejas & Genoveva Fernandez!
The well-known Argentinean Tango Dancers and teachers are back in Newcastle to offer us an intensive weekend of tango, to help us to improve our dancing with their years of knwoledge and treat us with their performance!
Andres and Genoveva represent the purest form of Tango de Salon and are widely thought of as leading exponents of the Villa Urquiza style.
Andres had already been working as a professional dancer for many years when he befriended the famous milonguero, Pepito Avellaneda, whom he acknowledges as his first Tango maestro. Later in his career Andres worked with Osvaldo Zotto (Zotto senior), another expert in Villa Urquiza. He has been dancing with Genoveva for over 15 years and together they have travelled, performed and taught all over the world. They have worked with well-known orchestras such as Sexteto Mayor and danced with many of the leading figures in Tango; amongst them Miguel Angel Zotto (Zotto junior), Osvaldo Zotto & Lorena Ermocida, Roberto Herrera & Vanina Bilous and Los Dinzel.
Their deep knowledge of the authentic Tango movements, their collective experience at the highest level of performance and teaching throughout the world and their self-critical and exhaustive technical training make them amongst the most accomplished and grounded teachers still accessible to the non-professional student.
Andres and Geno are regular faces at Salón Canning and Sunderland Club and continue to perform in Buenos Aires and further afield. Most recently they have been working in the Buenos Aires Tango Festival 2007.
Andres and Geno are always received as old friends whenever they visit us. They are well known throughout the UK, where they have worked with Tango organisations and societies in Leeds, Sheffield Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and London.
